Start the engine.
Install a scan tool.
Idle the engine.
With the scan tool observe the Displayed Trans Oil Temp parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the Displayed Trans Oil Temp parameter match the transmission fluid temperature gage display?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

With the scan tool observe the Monitored Trans Oil Temp parameter in the IPC data list.
Compare the Monitored Trans Oil Temp parameter to the Displayed Trans Oil Temp in the IPC data list

Does the scan tool indicate both parameters are approximately the same?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

With the scan tool observe the Monitored Trans Oil Temp parameter in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the parameter is within the specified range?

38°C to 130°C (100°F to 265°F)

Go to Step 5

Go to

•	Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L

•	Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls in Engine Controls - 8.1L

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Go to Step 6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
