Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

    2. Object Number: 660281 Size: SH
  2. Remove the fill plug.

    3. Object Number: 660282 Size: SH
  3. Remove the drain plug.

    4. Important: Ensure that an approved drain pan is used when draining the transfer case.

  4. Allow the transfer case to drain completely.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 660282 Size: SH
  1. Apply pipe sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the drain plug threads.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the drain plug.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the drain plug to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  3. Fill the transfer case with the proper fluid. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities .

    4. Object Number: 660281 Size: SH
  4. Apply pipe sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the fill plug threads.
  5. Install the fill plug.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the fill plug to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
