The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is the legal identifier of the vehicle. The VIN contains the following information:

| • | The engine type |
| • | The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) range |
| • | The model year |
| • | The plant code |
| • | The sequential number |
The VIN plate is attached to the driver door opening.
All engines and transaxles are stamped with a partial Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The following table identifies the different VIN derivative characters, character positions, and their respective descriptions:
