- Install the engine block coolant drain plug.
- Apply gasket paste or equivalent to the plug before installation
- Install the cooling jacket core plugs.
- Apply gasket paste or equivalent to the plugs before installation
- Drive the plugs into the block until they are flush using a drift that closely matches the inside diameter of the plug.
- Install the front oil passage plug and the engine front cover alignment dowels.
- Do not install any other type of plug in this oil passage.
- Install the upper oil passage plug
- Apply gasket paste or equivalent to the plug before installation
- Install the right side oil passage plug.
- Apply gasket paste or equivalent to the plug before installation
- Install the rear oil passage plugs.
- Apply gasket paste or equivalent to the plugs before installation
- Install the camshaft rear cover and gasket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Coolant Jacket Plug to 15 N路m (11 lb ft).
Important: The front oil passage plug is a special type with a lubrication hole for the timing chain.
Tighten
Oil Passage Plug to 21 N路m (15 lb ft).
Tighten
Oil Passage Plug to 21 N路m (15 lb ft).
Tighten
The Large Oil Passage Plug to 33 N路m (24 lb ft).
Tighten
The Small Oil Passage Plug to 15 N路m (11 lb ft).
Tighten
The Camshaft Rear Cover bolts to 12 N路m (106 lb in).
