Removal Procedure

Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels.

  4. Object Number: 160962  Size: SH
  5. Remove the transaxle brace bolts/screws.
  6. Remove the transaxle brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 160962  Size: SH
  1. Install the transaxle brace.
  2. Hand start the transaxle brace bolts/screws.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the transaxle brace to transaxle bolts/screws.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle brace to transaxle bolts/screws to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  6. Install the transaxle brace to engine bolts/screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle brace to engine bolts/screws to 63 N·m (46 lb ft).

  8. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Wheel Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
