Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 34730 , Fuel Pressure
 Gauge
Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.
- Relieve fuel system pressure.
Refer to 
Fuel Pressure Relief 
.
 
- Remove the fuel sender assembly. Refer to 
Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement 
.
 
- Note strainer (3) position for future reference.
 
- Support the reservoir
with one hand and grasp the strainer with the other hand.
 
- Use a screwdriver to pry the strainer ferrule off the reservoir.
 
- Discard the strainer.
 
Installation Procedure
- Install the new strainer
(4) to the reservoir.
 
- Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer with
the other hand twisting the strainer into position.
 
- Install the fuel sender assembly. Refer to 
Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement 
.
 
- Inspect for fuel leaks:
 
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to 
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection 
.
 
| 5.1.  | Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds. | 
 
| 5.2.  | Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for ten seconds. | 
 
| 5.3.  | Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. | 
 
| 5.4.  | Visually inspect the fuel system for fuel leaks. | 
 
- Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to 
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
