Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Shoe Replacement .
  2. Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls-3.5L.

    3. Object Number: 235173 Size: SH

    Important: Do not allow the primary camshaft drive chain to fall into the crankcase.

  3. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain from the following:
    4. 3.1. The crankshaft sprocket.
    3.2. The right intake sprocket.
    3.3. The left intake sprocket.
  4. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain from the front cover area.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 235173 Size: SH

    Important: Do not allow the primary camshaft drive chain to fall into the crankcase.

  1. Install the primary camshaft drive chain into the front cover area.
  2. Position the primary camshaft drive chain to the following:
    3. 2.1. The crankshaft sprocket.
    2.2. The balance shaft sprocket.
    2.3. The right intake sprocket.
    2.4. The left intake sprocket.
  3. Set the camshaft timing. Refer to Setting Camshaft Timing .
  4. Install the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls-3.5L.
  5. Install the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Shoe Replacement .
