The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system supplements the protection of the driver and passenger seat belts.
The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system deploys an airbag from the following locations:
| • | The center of the steering wheel |
| • | The top of the right side of the instrument panel |
The air bag deploys when the vehicle is involved in a frontal crash of sufficient force up to 30 degrees off the centerline of the vehicle.
Additional crash energy is absorbed by the following elements:
| • | A knee bolster beneath the instrument panel on the driver's side of the vehicle |
| • | A knee bolster beneath the instrument panel on the passenger's side of the vehicle |
| • | A collapsible steering column |
