Warning: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the rear wheel - right side. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
3. Remove the rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement.
4. If equipped, remove the fuel tank protector. Refer to Fuel Tank Protector Replacement.
5. Release the electrical connector.

Fuel Tank Filler Hose to Body Fastener

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

1. Remove the fuel tank filler cap.
2. Release the retainers holding the fuel filler hose to the body.

Tighten
9 N·m (80  lb in)

Fuel Tank Filler Hose Retainer (Qty: 2)

Procedure

1. Release the retainers.
2. Pull the fuel tank filler hose away from the fuel tank.
3. Pull the fuel tank filler hose breather hose away from the fuel tank.
