Preliminary Procedure

If equipped, remove the fuel tank protector. Refer to Fuel Tank Protector Replacement.

Warning: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

Fuel Filter Assembly Cover Fastener

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

1. Release the fuel filter assembly fastener using a spanner.
2. Remove the fuel filter assembly cover.

Fuel Filter Retaining Cover

Procedure

1. Release the fuel filter retaining cover retainers by pulling downwards.
2. Remove the fuel filter retaining cover.

Fuel Filter

Caution: Do not use a screwdriver or punch to remove the seal. Using a screwdriver or punch to remove the seal may damage the aluminum housing sealing surface.
