 Preliminary Procedures
- With the engine OFF, apply the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve. 
 
- Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir, using a suitable suction device.
 
- Remove the battery and tray refer to 
Battery Tray Replacement.
 
- Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
 
- Loosen the coolant reservoir from the bracket and move aside to make space.

 | Brake Pipe Fitting (Qty: 6)

 Procedure
- Thoroughly clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area of any accumulated dirt and foreign material.
 
- Remove the brake pipe fittings and cap the linings to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
 
 
Tighten 18 N·m(13 lb ft)  |

Tighten 20 N·m(15 lb ft)  |

 | Electronic Brake Control Module Electrical Connector 
 Procedure
- Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector and carefully remove the antilock brake control assembly.
 
- Apply grease on the connector pins when installing a new electronic brake control module.

Tighten 10 N·m(88 lb 10)  |

 Procedure
- Carefully separate the EBCM from the BPMV, do not pry the components apart.
 
- Clean the sealing surface of the BPMV with denatured alcohol and a clean shop cloth and allow to dry.
 
- Fill the master cylinder reservoir.
 
- Program the EBCM, IF installing a new EBCM. Refer to 
Electronic Brake Control Module Programming and Setup.
 
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to 
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
 
- Perform a diagnostic system check. Refer to 
Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
 
- If equipped, calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to 
Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.
 
- Centering the steering angle sensor. Refer to 
Steering Angle Sensor Centering.
