Tools Required

1. Remove the 5TH/6TH speed shift fork.



2. Remove the thrust washer.



3. Remove the following parts:

3.1.	The 6TH speed drive gear

3.2.	The caged needle bearing

3.3.	The spacer




4. Remove the following parts:

4.1.	The 6TH speed drive gear blocking ring

4.2.	The 5TH/6TH speed synchronizer retainer ring

5. Discard the retainer ring.



6. Remove the 5TH speed drive gear. Use the J 22910-01 and a hydraulic press. The 5TH/6TH speed synchronizer assembly and the 5TH speed drive gear blocking ring will press off with the 5TH speed drive gear.
7. Remove the 5TH speed drive gear caged needle bearing.

Important: Do not replace the small tapered bearing unless inspection shows bearing damage.




8. Remove the small tapered bearing. Use the J 39442 with the J 39443 and a hydraulic press.
