Transmission Case and Adapter Cleaning and Inspection CTSV
                    
Transmission Case
- Clean the transmission case in a suitable solvent. Air dry the transmission
case.
 
- Clean all sealant material from retainer bolt threads.
 
- Inspect the transmission case for the following conditions:
 
| 3.5.  | Nicked mounting surfaces | 
 
| 3.6.  | Damaged sealing surfaces | 
 
| 3.7.  | Damaged front or rear bearing bores | 
 
- Inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness with a straight
edge.
 
- Inspect the bearing races and bores for wear, scratches or grooves.
 
- Inspect the bushing for excessive wear.
 
- Use a fine mill file to dress minor scratches or burrs.
 
- If scratches, or grooves or scoring cannot be removed by hand
with a soft stone or crocus cloth, replace the component.
 
- Clean up damaged threads with the correct size tap.
 
- Replace a cracked housing.
 
- Replace worn bushings.
 
Adapter Plate
- Clean the adapter plate
parts with a suitable solvent. Air dry all the parts.
 
- Inspect the adapter plate parts for the following conditions:
 
| 2.1.  | Cracks (replace a cracked adapter plate.) | 
 
| 2.4.  | Nicked mounting surfaces | 
 
| 2.5.  | Damaged sealing surfaces | 
 
| 2.6.  | Damaged front or rear bearing bores | 
 
- Inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness. Check the mating
surfaces with a straight edge.
 
- Inspect the bearing races and bores for wear, scratches or grooves.
 
- Inspect the bushing for excessive wear. Replace worn bushings.
 
- Use a fine mill file to dress minor scratches or burrs.
 
- If scratches, or grooves or scoring cannot be removed by hand
with a soft stone or crocus cloth, replace the component.
