Identify the condition and probable cause before attempting
to repair the following components for any reason other than mechanical failure:
The following shifting conditions reveal clutch and manual transaxle
failures:
| • | Excessive shifting effort |
If any of the above conditions exist, perform the following inspection
and adjustment procedures before disassembling the clutch and/or transaxle
for repairs:
| • | Allow the engine to run at a normal idle under the following conditions: |
| - | The transaxle is in the NEUTRAL position. |
| • | Depress the clutch pedal in order to disengage the clutch. |
| • | Wait approximately nine seconds. |
| • | Shift the transaxle into the REVERSE position. |
| • | Inspect the clutch for engagement if a grinding noise exists. |
