Automatic Transmission Fluid Leaks
Checks
 | Cause
DEFINITION: Automatic transmission fluid leaks that occur on the transmission.
Automatic Transmission Fluid Level
 | High fluid level -- causing an oil leak at the vent cap (52).
Automatic Transmission Fluid Condition
|     •  | Contaminated with engine coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, etc. |

|     •  | Oxidized and degraded -- causing oil foaming and an oil leak at the vent cap |

Vent Cap Assembly
|     •  | The vent cap assembly (52) is plugged or damaged -- causing high internal pressure inside the transmission and causing oil leakage at another component. |

|     •  | Channel plate gasket (28) improperly torqued. |

Bottom Pan Assembly
|     •  | The bottom pan bolts and screws are loose, cross-threaded, or missing. |

|     •  | The bottom pan (88) is damaged. |

|     •  | The bottom pan gasket (87) is out of position or damaged. |

Oil Filter and Seal Assembly
|     •  | The oil filter assembly (85) is damaged. |

|     •  | The oil filter seal assembly (84) is missing or damaged -- causing oil foaming and an oil leak at the vent assembly. |

Side Cover Assembly
|     •  | The side cover bolts and screws (3, 4, 126) are loose, cross-threaded, or missing. |

|     •  | The side cover (1) is porous or damaged. |

|     •  | The side cover gasket (5) are out of position or damaged. |

|     •  | The wiring harness assembly (11) is damaged or is leaking at the electrical connector terminals. |

Front Wheel Drive Shaft Oil Seal Assemblies
 | The front wheel drive shaft oil seal assemblies (2, 5) are loose or damaged.
Oil Cooler Pipe Seal
 | The oil cooler pipe seal (49) are loose, damaged, or are missing.
Vehicle Speed Sensor Assembly
|     •  | The vehicle speed sensor bolt or screw (61) is loose, cross-threaded, or missing. |

|     •  | The vehicle speed sensor O-ring seal (63) is out of position or is damaged. |

Line Pressure Tap Plug
 | The line pressure tap plug (48) is loose, cross-threaded, damaged, or is missing a sealer.
Manual Shaft and Detent Lever Assembly
|     •  | The manual shaft and detent lever seal assembly (809) is out of position or is damaged. |

|     •  | The manual shift shaft (807) sealing surface is damaged. |

Actuator Guide Assembly
|     •  | The actuator guide pin (810) is loose or missing. |

|     •  | The actuator guide (812) is damaged. |

|     •  | The actuator guide O-ring seal (811) is out of position, missing, or damaged. |

Torque Converter Seal Assembly
 | The torque converter seal assembly (54) is loose or damaged.
Drive Sprocket Support Assembly
 | The drive sprocket support (43) oil drain back holes are plugged or missing -- causing repeat leaks at the torque converter oil seal assembly (54).
Case Assembly
 | The case assembly (51) is porous or damaged.
