Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2008 🢒 G6 🢒 Diagnostic Navigation 🢒 Vehicle Diagnostic Information 🢒 Ignition and Start Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  3. Remove the I/P center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the ignition switch wire harness connector.
  5. Remove the theft deterrent module wire harness connector.
  6. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  7. Disconnect the park lock cable at the ignition switch. Refer to the appropriate procedure:
    8. •  Park Lock Cable Replacement for the 4T45-E transaxle
    •  Park Lock Cable Replacement for the 4T65-E transaxle
    •  Park Lock Cable Replacement for the 6T70/6T75 transmission
  8. Remove the ignition switch at the I/P screws.

  9. Remove the ignition switch assembly.
  10. Remove the ignition switch bracket screws.
  11. Remove the theft deterrent control module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement .

    12. Object Number: 1207709 Size: SH
  12. Remove the ignition switch bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1207709 Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition switch bracket.
  2. Install the theft deterrent control module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement .

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the ignition switch bracket screws.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  4. Install the ignition switch .
  5. Tighten the ignition switch screws.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  6. Connect the park lock cable at the ignition switch. Refer to the appropriate procedure:
    7. •  Park Lock Cable Replacement for the 4T45-E transaxle
    •  Park Lock Cable Replacement for the 4T65-E transaxle
    •  Park Lock Cable Replacement for the 6T70/6T75 transmission
  7. Install the theft deterrent module wire harness connector.
  8. Install the ignition switch wire harness connector.
  9. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  10. Install the I/P center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
  11. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  12. Install the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
