For 1990-2009 cars only
- Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
- Loosen the hood latch to front end module retaining bolts (1).
- With the hood latch to front end module retaining bolts loose, slowly lower the hood onto the hood latch (2) in order to achieve the proper cross vehicle adjustment of the hood latch.
- Raise the hood.
- Tighten the hood latch to front end module retaining bolts (1).
- Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
- Close the hood and inspect for fit. Refer to Dimensions - Body .
Important: When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
Important: Make sure that you have the proper alignment
of the hood to the body before you tighten the hood latch retaining bolts under the
following conditions:
• After removing the hood latch. • After loosening the retaining bolts. • After changing the hood adjustment.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
