The EBTCM contains sophisticated on-board diagnostics.
The diagnostics identify the source of any system malfunction as specifically
as possible. This diagnosis occurs whether the malfunction was intermittent
or constant. The on-board diagnostics are accessed with a Diagnostic Computer
Scan Tool.
The Diagnostic Computer Scan Tool performs the following functions:
| • | Specific identification of the last diagnostic trouble code |
| • | Storage of specific data at the time of the malfunction |
| • | Monitoring of each input and output, enabling the following operations: |
| - | Malfunction confirmation |
| • | Manual control of the components |
| • | Automated functional tests |
