Removal Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the transaxle under cover. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - Y4M, or Transmission Replacement .
  4. Remove the front under longitudinal frame bolt (1).
  5. Remove the front under longitudinal frame nut (2).

  6. Remove the stabilizer shaft mounting bolts (1).
  7. Remove the front under longitudinal frame.

  8. Remove the cotter pin (1).
  9. Remove the castellated nut (2).
  10. Remove the washer (3).
  11. Remove the rear bushing by separating the stabilizer shaft from the control arm (4).
  12. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the vehicle.

  13. Remove the bushing (1).
  14. Remove the wire clamps (2).
  15. Remove the mountings (3).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1222753 Size: SH

    Important: When installing the mountings, position the opened mountings forward.

  1. Install the mountings (3), wire clamps (2), and bushing (1).

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle and tighten the castellated nut (1).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft-to-body castellated nut to 40-50 N·m (30-36 lb ft).

  3. Install the cotter pin.

    4. Object Number: 1221510 Size: SH
  4. Install the front under longitudinal frame.
  5. Install the stabilizer shaft mounting bolts (1).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolts to 30-50 N·m (22-36 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1222751 Size: SH
  6. Install the front under longitudinal frame bolt (1).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10-14 N·m (89-124 lb in).

  7. Install the front under longitudinal frame nut (2).

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 65-80 N·m (48-59 lb ft).

  8. Install the transaxle under cover. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - Y4M.
  9. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
