Rattle from Glove Box Door/Key Lock Cylinder (Install Insulator on Lock Cylinder)

Some customers may comment that there is a rattle type noise coming from the glove box door or the key lock cylinder.

Remove the key lock cylinder. Install insulator, P/N 22661244, on the lock cylinder and reinstall using the following procedure:

1. Open the glove compartment and remove the eight screws that attach the door inner panel to the door outer panel.
2. Remove the three screws that attach the door release handle and lock cylinder to the door outer panel and remove the handle.
3. Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder and remove the lock cylinder.
4. Install insulator (2), on the lock cylinder (1) and reinstall the lock cylinder into the door (3) and latch (4).
5. Install the door handle on the door outer panel and install the three screws.

Tighten
Tighten to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

6. Using the ignition key, verify that the lock cylinder and the release handle work correctly before assembling the door inner to the door outer.
7. Install the door inner panel to the door outer panel and install the eight screws.

Tighten
Tighten to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

8. Close the door and verify the handle and lock cylinder operation.
