Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 927716 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the accelerator pedal assembly electrical connector.

    2. Object Number: 931404 Size: SH
  2. Remove the mounting bolts and reposition the OnStar® module aside, if equipped. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement in Cellular Communication.

    3. Object Number: 926065 Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining clip and washer from the brake pedal.
  4. Release the brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal.

    5. Object Number: 925867 Size: SH
  5. Remove the stop lamp switch from the pedal bracket. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

    6. Object Number: 926071 Size: SH
  6. Remove the cruise control release switch, if equipped, from the pedal bracket. Refer to Cruise Control Release Switch Replacement in Cruise Control.

    7. Object Number: 925895 Size: SH
  7. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts.
  8. Position the brake booster forward to clear the studs from the front of the dash.

  9. Remove the brake pedal bracket-to-steering column bracket bolt.

    10. Object Number: 932996 Size: SH
  10. Loosen, but do not remove, the steering column bracket to cowl nut.
  11. While simultaneously disengaging the brake pedal bracket pilot bushings from the foam insulation panel, pull the brake pedal assembly back and toward the center of the vehicle.
  12. Remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle.

  13. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly from the brake pedal bracket. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.

  14. Remove the OnStar® mounting bracket bolts and J-nuts from the brake pedal assembly, if equipped.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the OnStar® J-nuts and mounting bracket bolts to the brake pedal assembly, if equipped.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  2. Install the accelerator pedal assembly to the brake pedal bracket. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.

    3. Object Number: 925895 Size: SH
  3. Install the brake pedal assembly into the vehicle, while guiding the brake pedal bracket pilot bushings into the foam insulator panel.
  4. Reposition the booster studs thru dash panel.

    5. Object Number: 931272 Size: SH
  5. Install the brake pedal bracket-to-steering column bracket bolt.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Loosely install the brake booster mounting nuts.
  7. Apply a thin coating of lithium grease to the pushrod pin on the brake pedal.

  8. Connect the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal.
  9. Install the washer and retaining clip to the brake pedal.

    10. Object Number: 925895 Size: SH
  10. Tighten the vacuum brake booster mounting nuts.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the steering column bracket to cowl nut.

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Install the cruise control release switch and retainer, if equipped, to the pedal bracket. Refer to Cruise Control Release Switch Replacement in Cruise Control.

    13. Object Number: 925867 Size: SH
  13. Install the stop lamp switch and retainer to the pedal bracket. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  14. Adjust the stop lamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Adjustment in Lighting Systems.
  15. Adjust the cruise release switch, if equipped. Refer to Cruise Release Switch Adjustment in Cruise Control.

  16. Reposition the OnStar® module to the mounting bracket, if equipped. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement in Cellular Communication.

  17. Connect the accelerator pedal assembly electrical connector.
