This bulletin is being revised to add model years and updated PCM part numbers. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-06-04-074 (Section 06 -- Engine/Propulsion System ).
Some customers may comment on the following conditions:
| • | Intermittent extended crank or hard start when the engine is still at operating temperature (hot soak). Engine cranks for approximately 3 seconds, starts, may miss after starting, then clears and operates normally for the duration of the drive cycle. | 
| • | The engine cranks but will not start. Diagnosis may show no injector pulse or spark during cranking. Also, the scan tool may fail to initialize with the PCM. | 
These conditions may be caused by the following:
| • | The PCM calibration may not be maximized for hot restart. | 
| • | The PCM may have experienced an internal fault. | 
| • | Refer to Hard Start in SI. | 
| • | Refer to Engine Cranks but Does Not Run diagnostic in SI. |
