MKM-571-B Dial Gage
Important: Crankshaft attached with crankshaft bearing covers.
| • | Install in the holder on the front of the cylinder block. |
| • | Place the dial gage plunger against the crankshaft and adjust. |
| • | Move the crankshaft in the longitudinal direction. |
| • | Permissible crankshaft end play: 0.100-0.202 mm. |
Important: Crankshaft removed.
| • | Attach to the bracket on the cylinder block. |
| • | Place the dial gage plunger against the crankshaft bearing journal and adjust. |
| • | Turn the crankshaft evenly. |
| • | Maximum permissible rotational play: 0.03 mm. |
Important: Crankshaft removed.
Important: Do not rotate the crankshaft.
Important: Plastigage is available via the "Opel/Vauxhall Workshop Equipment" catalogue.
Lay out Plastigage (flexible plastic thread) around the entire width of the con-rod bearing journal (arrow).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Note the correct tightening sequence.
Important: The bolts can be reused for checking the crankshaft bearing play.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 50 N·m+45°+15°.
Unscrew the 2 bolts.
Important: When reading the value, do not confuse millimeters and inches on the measuring scale.
| • | Compare the width of the flattened plastic thread (arrow) to the measuring scale. |
| • | Permissible crankshaft bearing play: 0.005-0.059 mm. |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Note the correct tightening sequence.
Important: The bolts can be reused for checking the crankshaft bearing play.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 50 N·m+45°+15°.
Measure at points I, II and III with the internal measuring device.
Formula: I + II + III/3.
Measure at points I and II with the micrometer gauge.
Formula: I + II/2.
Calculation formula: average crankshaft bearing diameter - average crankshaft bearing journal diameter.
Permissible crankshaft bearing play: 0.005-0.059 mm.
