Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement Coupe
                    
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the battery.
 
- Capacitor discharge waiting time 1 minute.
 
- Position the front seat as far forward as possible.
 
- Remove the bench seat.
 
| •  | Release the 2 front brackets (1). | 
 
| •  | Support the 2 bench seats from the rear bracket. | 
 
| •  | Push the seat simultaneously backwards and upward. | 
 
- Remove the rear seat backrest (l).
 
| •  | Remove the 4 bolts (2) at the front. | 
 
| •  | Remove the 3 belt buckles (1). | 
 
| •  | Fold down the rear seat backrest (II). | 
 
| •  | Remove the 4 rear bolts (2). | 
 
- Remove the rear seat backrest.
 
- Remove the sill inner paneling (1).
 
Release the 5 clips.
- Remove the rear quarter trim panel front inner.
 
| •  | Remove the lower belt fastening (3). | 
 
| •  | Remove the lower belt shackle (4). | 
 
| •  | Remove the belt with striker. | 
 
| •  | Remove the belt striker guide bushing (5) from the rear quarter panel front. | 
 
| •  | Remove the rear quarter panel cover cap (2). | 
 
| •  | Remove the bolt (6) from the rear seat backrest. | 
 
| •  | Remove the bolt (1) from the upper center pillar. | 
 
| •  | Remove the front rear quarter panel. | 
 
| •  | Release the 8 clips (7). | 
 
- Side airbag sensor, replace.
 
| •  | Release and disconnect the wiring harness plug. | 
 
| •  | Remove the side airbag sensor. | 
 
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the side airbag sensor.
 
| •  | Insert the side airbag sensor. | 
 
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
| •  | Connect and latch the wiring harness plug. | 
 
- Install the rear quarter panel front inner paneling.
 
| •  | Install the 8 front quarter panel clips. | 
 
Tighten
|    •  | Tighten the bolt on the upper center pillar to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in). 
 | 
 
|    •  | Tighten the bolt to the rear seat backrest to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). 
 | 
 
|    •  | Tighten the bolt on lower center pillar to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in). 
 | 
 
| •  | Install the rear quarter panel cover cap front. | 
 
| •  | Install the belt striker guide bushing to the rear quarter panel front. | 
 
| •  | Install the belt with the striker. | 
 
| •  | Install the lower belt striker. | 
 
Tighten
Tighten the lower belt fastening bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the sill inner paneling.
 
Install the 5 clips.
- Insert the rear seat backrest.
 
- Install the rear seat backrest.
 
| •  | Guide in and position the rear seat backrest with the guide pins right and left in the rear quarter panel. | 
 
Tighten
Tighten the 4 rear bolts to 35 N·m (25 lb ft).
| •  | Fold down the rear seat backrest. | 
 
Tighten
Tighten the 4 front bolts to 35 N·m (25 lb ft).
- Install the bench seat.
 
| •  | Position the 2 seats in the rear bracket. | 
 
| •  | Push the seat simultaneously backwards up and down. | 
 
| •  | Bolt the 2 front brackets. | 
 
- Connect the battery.
 
- For programming procedures, refer to 
Control Module References.
 
- Perform the readiness inspection.
 
After ignition ON, the airbag system readiness indicator illuminates for 4 seconds and then goes out.

Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the battery.
 
- Capacitor discharge waiting time is 1 minute.
 
- Position the front seat as far forward as possible.
 
- Remove the rear sill inner panelling.
 
| •  | Remove the inner panelling sill upwards. | 
 
- Remove the side airbag sensor.
 
| •  | Disconnect the wiring harness plug. | 
 
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the sensor.
 
| •  | Connect the wiring harness plug. | 
 
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Reposition the driver seat to the previous position.
 
- Install the rear sill panelling.
 
Install the 5 clips.
- Connect the battery.
 
Important: After ignition ON, the airbag system readiness indicator illuminates for 4 seconds and then goes out.
- Preform the readiness inspection.
