Interference occurs in the column assembly pivot path.

Inspect the column jacket for wear patterns. Ensure that the mounting and the pivot bolts are properly installed and that the column is properly aligned in the vehicle.

The tilt lever assembly is damaged.

If necessary, replace the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
