Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
 
- Remove the rear wheel and the tire assemblies. Refer to 
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation 
   in Tires and Wheels.
 
- Drive out the brake pad retaining pins from the outside to the inside,
  and  remove the pins and the retaining spring.
 
- Remove
the brake   pads.
 
- Inspect the brake pad retaining pins for deterioration or damage. If damaged,
   replace.
 
- Inspect the brake pad retaining spring for deterioration or damage. If
  damaged,  replace.
 
- Inspect the brake caliper piston seal for leakage or damage. If damaged,
   overhaul the caliper.
 
Installation Procedure
Important: Never replace the brake pads on one side
 of the axle only. The left and right  side brake  pads must be replaced only as axle
 sets.
- Install the new brake pads into the caliper.
 
- Apply a small amount of silicone grease to the retaining pins.
 
Important: Check to ensure the brake pads move freely
 in the guide.
- Install the brake pad retaining spring, and drive the brake pad retaining pins
  in from the inside outward.
 
Caution: Refer to Wheel Installation Caution in the Preface section.
- Position the wheel and tire assembly  onto the hub.
 
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to 
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation 
in Tires and Wheels.
 
- Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
 
Caution: Refer to Failure to Depress Brake Caution in the Preface section.
- Prior to operating the vehicle, depress the brake a few times  until the brake
 pads are seated against the rotor.
