Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.

    4. Object Number: 161096 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.

    5. Object Number: 10516 Size: SH
  5. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9).
  6. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (10) from the extension case.

    7. Object Number: 10711 Size: SH
  7. Remove the O-ring seal (11) from the vehicle speed sensor (10).

    8. Important: Handle the vehicle speed sensor (10) carefully.

  8. Inspect the vehicle speed sensor and O-ring seal for the following:
    9. • Damaged connector
    • Cracked housing
    • Signs of rotor damage
    • Cuts or nicks on the O-ring seal (11)

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 10711 Size: SH
  1. Install the O-ring seal (11) to the vehicle speed sensor (10).
  2. Install the vehicle speed sensor to the extension case.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 10516 Size: SH
  3. Install the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  4. Connect the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.
  5. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.
  6. Install the right front tire and wheel. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
