For 1990-2009 cars only
- If necessary, clean and install the transmission magnet chip collector (137) in the torque converter housing (150).
- Install the spacer plate locating pins (243).
- Install the control valve body spacer plate (244).
- Install the automatic transmission fluid pump drive gear (234) into the transmission torque converter housing.
- Install the automatic transmission fluid pump driven gear (232) into the transmission torque converter housing with its grooved and chamfered side facing down as shown.
- Install the automatic transmission fluid pump driven gear pin (233) into the transmission torque converter housing.
- Install the main control valve body assembly (250) to the torque converter housing assembly using the following flanged bolt/screws:
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Inspect the automatic transmission fluid pump drive gear pin (234) and the automatic transmission fluid pump driven gear pin (233) for smooth rotation.
- If the gears do not rotate smoothly perform the following:
- Install the torque converter check valve 35.1 mm return spring (226) into the control valve body (250).
- Install the torque converter check valve (225) into the control valve body (250).
- Install the transmission fluid cooler check valve (228) into the control valve body (250).
- Install the oil cooler check ball 14.5 mm return spring (227) into the control valve body (250).

Tighten
| • | Tighten all M6 bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in) |
| • | Tighten all M8 bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft) |
Important: Properly align the fluid pump driven gear pin in order to prevent a seized fluid pump.
| • | Loosen all of the control valve body bolts |
| • | Align the fluid pump driven gear pin again |
| • | Torque the bolts to specifications again |
| • | Verify the gears rotate smoothly |
