Tools Required

1. Apply an approved lubricant to the counter gear shaft and install the following components:

•	the 2nd gear bearing (1)

•	the 2nd gear (6)

•	the 2nd gear synchronizer inner cone (5)

•	the 2nd gear synchronizer outer cone (4)

•	the 2nd gear outer blocker ring (3)

•	the 1st/2nd gear synchronizer sleeve (2)




2. Using a hydraulic press and DT-47722  (1), install the 1st/2nd gear synchronizer sleeve with the boss side facing 2nd gear. The synchronizer ring set and transmission clutch hub are to be aligned when installing the transmission clutch hub assembly.




Important: The retaining ring is a selected fit. Always install a NEW retaining ring.

3. Select the maximum thickness snap ring (1) that will fit in the groove. Refer to Countershaft Front and Rear Bearing Retaining Ring Specifications .
4. Install a NEW snap ring to the counter gear shaft.



5. Apply an approved lubricant and install the following components:

•	the 1st gear outer blocking ring (3)

•	the 1st gear synchronizer outer cone (2)

•	the 1st gear synchronizer inner cone (1)




6. Apply an approved lubricant and install and align the 1st gear bearing (3), 1st gear (2) and the reverse gear spline (1).



7. Using a hydraulic press and DT-47723 , install the reverse gear spline (1).



8. Apply an approved lubricant and install the reverse gear blocking ring (1).
9. Install the ball (6) to the countershaft.
10. Apply an approved lubricant and install the reverse gear bushing bearing (2).
11. Apply an approved lubricant to the synchronizer sleeve and reverse gear (3).
12. Align and install the synchronizer sleeve and reverse gear (3) together.
13. Apply an approved lubricant and install the reverse gear bushing (5) with ball.
14. Install the counter gear front bearing (4) with groove facing forward.



15. Using a hydraulic press and DT-47723  (1), install the counter gear front bearing.




Important: The retaining ring is a selected fit. Always install a NEW retaining ring.

16. Select the maximum thickness snap ring (2) that will fit in the groove. Refer to 1st and 2nd Gear Synchronizer Retaining Ring Specifications .
17. Install a NEW snap ring (2) to the counter gear shaft (1).
