Tools Required

1. Rotate the transmission so that the final drive is facing upward.
2. Install J 26958-10B andJ 26958 onto the case (15).
3. Hand tighten the knob of J 26958 .



4. Rotate the case so that the transmission case cover is facing upward.
5. Install J 28544 through the left axle shaft seal (31) and into the input shaft. Finger tighten the tool.
6. Install J 8001 and J 25025-7A .
7. Push down on the lifter to be sure that the lifter and the input shaft are at the bottom of their travel.
8. Set the indicator gage at zero.
9. Pull up the lifter. The reading should be 0.10-0.84 mm (0.004-0.033 in).
10. Record the reading. Compare the reading to the Input Shaft Selective Snap Ring table in End Play Specifications for the proper selective snap ring.

Important: Do not remove J 26958 loading tool.

11. Remove J 8001 , J 25025-7A , and J 28544 .
