Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38778  Door Trim
       Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
- Remove the rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side 
 in 
Body Rear End.
 
- Remove the license lamp. Refer to 
Rear License Lamp Replacement 
 in Lighting Systems.
 
- Remove the rear sidemarker lamp. Refer to
Rear Side Marker Lamp Replacement 
  in Lighting
 Systems.
 
- Remove the tail lamp. Refer to
Tail Lamp Replacement 
in Lighting Systems.
 
- Remove the push-in retainers
using the J 38778 
 .
 
- Remove the bolts (6) from the middle of the bumper fascia
upper edge to quarter panel from the inside rear compartment.
 
- Remove the nuts from the rear bumper fascia reinforcement. Refer
to 
Rear Bumper Fascia Reinforcement Replacement 
 .
 
- Remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to 
Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement 
 in
 Body Rear End.
 
- Remove the bolts (4)
securing the upper edge of the rear bumper fascia to the quarter panel from
   underneath the vehicle      immediately  rear of the wheel opening.
 
- Remove the rear bumper fascia push-in retainers from the impact
 bar using theJ 38778 
 .
 
- Remove the rear bumper fascia (3) from the vehicle.
 
Installation Procedure
Important: Do not scratch the body paint with horizontal studs on the bumper fascia.
- Position the rear bumper fascia (3) to the rear impact bar and
the body.
 
- Install the rear bumper fascia upper push-in retainers (2).
 
- Install the nuts to the rear bumper fascia reinforcement. Refer
to
Rear Bumper Fascia Reinforcement Replacement 
 .
 
- Install the rear bumper
fascia push-in retainers (1) to the rear impact bar.
 
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts (4) to the upper edge of the rear bumper fascia
to the quarter    panel.
 
Tighten
Tighten the rear impact bar bolts (4) to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to
Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement 
 in
 Body Rear End.
 
- Install the tail lamp. Refer to 
Tail Lamp Replacement 
in Lighting Systems.
 
- Install the rear sidemarker lamp. Refer to
Rear Side Marker Lamp Replacement 
 in Lighting
 Systems.
 
- Install the license lamp. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement 
 in Lighting Systems.
 
- Install the rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side 
 in 
Body Rear End.
