Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Extended Cab

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .



2. Remove the head restraints (2). Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Remove the seat belt tether strips.
4. Remove the seat belt bezel.



5. Release the seat back trim cover J-clip. Pull back the trim cover in order to expose the seat back side bolts (1).
6. Remove the head rest retainers.
7. Remove the seat belt bolts.
8. Remove the seat back frame from the seat.



9. Pull up the trim cover in order to expose the head restraint retainers (1).
10. Remove the head restraint retainers.
11. Remove the trim cover (4).
12. Separate the foam pad (3) from the seat back frame.
13. Remove the seat back frame from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Attach the foam pad (3) to the seat back frame.
2. Pull the trim cover (4) over the seat.
3. Install the head restraint retainers (1).




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4. Install the side bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the side bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

5. Connect the seat back trim cover J-clip.



6. Install the head restraints (1). Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
7. Install the rear seat in the vehicle. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .

Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Extended Cab w/ 4th Door

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the armrest from the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .



2. Remove the head restraints (9) from the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Release the bottom edge of the seat back cover (2).
4. Release the hook and loop strips retaining the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad (1).
5. To ease removal, place a piece of cardboard between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
6. Working from side to side, carefully lift the seat back cover from the foam pad.

Installation Procedure

1. Working from side to side, carefully install the seat back cover over the foam pad.



2. Remove the cardboard from between the seat back cover (2) and the foam pad.
3. Engage the hook and loop strips that retain the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad (1).
4. Secure the bottom edge of the seat back cover.
5. Install the head restraints (9) to the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
6. Install the armrest to the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .

Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement 40 Percent Split

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the seat back folding cover. Refer to Rear Folding Seat Back Cover Replacement .



2. Remove the head restraints (2) from the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Remove the J-clips from the seat.
4. In order to ease removal, place a piece of cardboard between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
5. Working from side to side, carefully lift the seat back cover from the foam pad.

Installation Procedure

1. Working from side to side, carefully install the seat back cover over the foam pad.



2. Remove the cardboard from between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
3. Install the J-clips to the seat.
4. Install the head restraints (2) to the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
5. Install the seat back folding cover. Refer to Rear Folding Seat Back Cover Replacement .

Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement 60 Percent Split

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the armrest from the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .



2. Remove the head restraints (1) from the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Release the J-clips from the seat back cover.
4. In order to ease removal, place a piece of cardboard between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
5. Working from side to side, carefully lift the seat back cover from the foam pad.

Installation Procedure

1. Working from side to side, carefully install the seat back cover over the foam pad.



2. Remove the cardboard from between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
3. Engage the J-clips that retain the seat back cover.
4. Install the head restraints (1) to the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
5. Install the armrest to the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .

Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Suburban/Yukon XL 40/40 Bucket

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the armrest from the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .
2. Remove the head restraints from the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Release the bottom edge of the seat back cover.
4. Release the hook and loop strips retaining the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad.
5. In order to ease removal, place a piece of cardboard between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
6. Working from side to side, carefully lift the seat back cover from the foam pad.

Installation Procedure

1. Working from side to side, carefully install the seat back cover over the foam pad.
2. Remove the cardboard from between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
3. Engage the hook and the loop strips that retain the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad.
4. Secure the bottom edge of the seat back cover.
5. Install the head restraints to the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
6. Install the armrest to the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .

Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Suburban/Yukon XL 2nd Rear Bench

Removal Procedure, Right Side

1. Remove the armrest from the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .



2. Remove the head restraints (2) from the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Release the bottom edge of the seat back cover.
4. Release the hook and loop strips retaining the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad.
5. To ease removal, place a piece of cardboard between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
6. Working from side to side, carefully lift the seat back cover from the foam pad.

Installation Procedure, Right Side

1. Working from side to side, carefully install the seat back cover over the foam pad.



2. Remove the cardboard from between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
3. Engage the hook and loop strips that retain the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad.
4. Secure the bottom edge of the seat back cover.
5. Install the head restraints (2) to the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
6. Install the armrest to the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .

Removal Procedure, Left Side

1. Remove the armrest from the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .



2. Remove the head restraints (1) from the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
3. Release the bottom edge of the seat back cover (2).
4. Release the hook and loop strips retaining the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad.
5. To ease removal, place a piece of cardboard between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
6. Working from side to side, carefully lift the seat back cover from the foam pad.

Installation Procedure, Left Side

1. Working from side to side, carefully install the seat back cover over the foam pad.



2. Remove the cardboard from between the seat back cover and the foam pad.
3. Engage the hook and loop strips that retain the seat back cover to the seat back foam pad.
4. Secure the bottom edge of the seat back cover (2).
5. Install the head restraints (1) to the seat back. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement .
6. Install the armrest to the seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Armrest Replacement .

Rear Seat Back Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Tahoe/Yukon 50/50 Split - 2nd Rear

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the quick release latch plates for the lap/shoulder belts by pressing a drift punch or a similar tool into the release hole of the seat belt buckle while pulling on the safety belt.
2. Pull up on the handle at the rear of the seat.
3. Roll the seat forward.
4. Lift the seat up and out of the floor rails.
5. Remove the seat from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the seat into the vehicle.
2. Align the seat attaching points with the slots in the floor rail.
3. Push the seat forward in the rail in order to lock the front of the seat risers onto the pins on the inside of the floor rail.
4. Roll the seat back and down in order to secure the seat into place.
5. Install the quick release latch plate for the lap/shoulder belt by inserting the latch plate into the seat belt buckle and pushing in order to engage the latch plate with the seat belt buckle.
