Conditions for Setting the DTC

The Control Module will monitor the lateral accelerator switch signal for invalid voltage levels. A lateral accelerator switch error occurs when the lateral accelerator switch signal is short circuited to B+ or ground, or the lateral accelerator switch is open-circuited or disconnected. Recovery occurs upon detection of valid lateral accelerator switch input voltage.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

  1. Record lateral accelerator switch error.
  2. Turn on both driver select switch L.E.D.s.
  3. Disable lateral accelerator switch input until valid voltage level is detected.

    • Turn the ignition ON (car level).
    • Backprobe the control module connector with a digital voltmeter.
        Measure the voltage from pin D7 to pin D16 (ground).

Is the measurement less than the specified value?

1 V

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the control module connector.
  3. Check the resistance between pins D7 and D16 of the wiring harness connector.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

1 ohms

Repair the short circuit to ground condition in CKT 1309 (pin D7).

Is the repair complete?

Check the resistance between pins C2 and D16.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

1 ohms

Replace the control module. Refer to Electronic Suspension Control Module Replacement .

Repair the short circuit to ground condition in CKT 1308 (pin C2).

Is the measurement within the specified value?

  2. Enter diagnostics.

Check CKTs 1308 and 1309 for a short circuit to ignition/battery condition.

  1. Disconnect the control module.
  2. Measure the resistance between pins D7 and C2 of the wiring harness connector.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

100 ohms

Disconnect the lateral accelerator switch and measure the resistance across the switch terminals.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

Repair the open circuit condition in CKT 1308 or 1309.
